President of Portuguese Republic Grants SPA the Order of the Liberty

On 1 December and the national Independence Holiday, the President of the Portuguese Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa granted SPA the title of Honorary Member of the Order of Freedom and its corresponding insignias. Accepted by SPA President José Jorge Letria, this formal event was attended by numerous members of SPA. The President of the Republic highlighted the role of SPA in Portuguese culture as well as the greatest authors spanning disciplines and generations that have been and are still members of the cooperative. The President also recalled the role they have always had, will continue to have, and that the value of freedom as part of the creative act itself. 

The award of the insignia of the Order of Freedom to SPA was referred by the President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa as the celebration and recognition of SPA’s role in the country’s collective life.
