CISAC AV societies maintain united support for AV authors’ remuneration in Brazil
CISAC member heads and experts from across the world came together to support lobbying efforts by Brazil’s societies for the implementation of the right to remuneration for audiovisual creators.
CISAC’s Dramatic, Literary and Audiovisual Works Technical Committee (CTDLV) was held on 23-24 October 2024 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, gathering more than 60 participants from Latin America, Europe and Africa. The meeting was organised with the support of the Brazilian CMO ABRAMUS and was attended by Mr. Cauê Fanha, Director of Copyright Regulation of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture.
The meeting declared support for the pending legislative project aiming to implement remuneration rights for Brazilian screenwriters and directors for commercial exploitations of their works. It also expressed CISAC’s support to the Brazilian audiovisual CMOs DBCA and GEDAR.
The CTDLV also discussed the current audiovisual market trends in Latin America and other territories, the impact of artificial intelligence on the audiovisual repertoire, and private copying, among other topics. Attending CMOs also joined a workshop on the use of international tools and formats for the administration of the DLV repertoire.
